BYU-Hawaii advances to Elite 8 in DII men’s basketball

Jake Dastrup scored 18 points, 15 on five 3-pointers, to lead seventh-seeded Brigham Young-Hawaii over fourth seed Dixie State 79-73 in tonight’s West Region final of the NCAA Division II Men’s Basketball Tournament in Ellensburg, Wash.

Jet Chang and Junior Ale each scored 14 and Rory Peterson and Marques Whippy both added 10 for the Seasiders (20-8), who are advancing to the Elite 8 in Springfield, Mass., for the first time in school history. 

BYUH will play the winner of tomorrow’s game between Bentley and Bloomfield on March 23.
