The Bank of England has been contacted by officials on a possible meeting of the Group of Seven nations in the aftermath of the earthquake in Japan last week.
A Bank of England spokesman in London, speaking by phone today, declined to comment further on the contact.
Earlier today, French Finance Minister Christine Lagarde said she wanted to convene G-7 talks on the financial response to the quake.
