PacWest women prevail, men fall

The Brigham Young-Hawaii women’s tennis team blanked Columbus State University 6-0, yesterday in Augusta, Georgia. The undefeated Seasiders swept four singles matches in straight sets led by second-ranked Yuan Jia, who beat Loriane Favoretto 6-3, 6-1 in the No. 1 match. The Cougars forfeited a single and doubles match due to an incomplete line-up.

In Las Vegas, the Hawaii Pacific women’s tennis team defeated Fresno Pacific 7-2. The Lady Sea Warriors won four of six singles and three doubles matches against the Sunbirds.

On the men’s side, the 30th-ranked Brigham Young-Hawaii’s men’s tennis team fell to Columbus State 5-1. BYUH’s Rong Ma was the only Seasider to pick up a win after defeating Christophe Noblet 6-1, 6-1 on the No. 1 court.

Hawaii Pacific’s men’s tennis team endured similar struggles on the road with a 5-1 loss to Fresno Pacific. HPU’s Petr Michnev defeated Kirill Sinitsyn 6-2, 5-7, 10-6 on the No. 1 court to claim the Sea Warriors’ lone victory.
