NTSB: Report on Kauai glider crash may take a year
LIHUE >> National Transportation Safety Board investigators say it could take up to a year to determine the cause of a hang glider crash in Kauai in which two people died.
A NTSB spokesman said Wednesday the investigation of the February crash that killed pilot Jim Gaither and passenger Kim Buergel, of Spokane, Wash., would likely take 12 months.
The powered glider showed substantial damage when it hit the water off Kauai’s south shore, according to a preliminary report. County officials have not released an autopsy report.
Gaither’s company, Big Sky Kaua’i, owned the aircraft.
