A Waipahu couple was charged with assaulting a police officer at a bar Wednesday morning in Pearl City, police said.

Police responded to Club Electro, 593 Kamehameha Highway, shortly before 2 a.m. to serve a protective order on the woman’s co-worker.

When the subject of the protective order could not be found, the man, 46, got upset and began wrestling with the officer. They fell to the ground, and the man punched the officer in the mouth, police said. The woman attacked and punched the officer from behind, in the back of the head, police said.

Officers booked the couple for investigation of assault on a police officer. Gina Devine posted $11,000 bail, and Richard Garvis posted $30,000 bail.
