Libya Mission Cost at $550 Million for U.S. Forces So Far

The U.S. part of the Libya mission has cost $550 million so far, mostly for bombs and missiles, according to the Department of Defense.

Costs will drop quickly as NATO takes over the mission. The next three weeks will cost an estimated $40 million, and that will be the cost per month if the mission continues at the reduced level, according to an email statement by Navy Commander Kathleen Kesler, a Pentagon spokeswoman.
