Ocean Expo this weekend

The Hawaii Ocean Expo, featuring boating, fishing, surfing and paddling products, will be held tomorrow and Sunday at the Blaisdell Exhibition Hall.

The expo runs from 9 a.m. until 7:30 p.m. tomorrow and 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. Sunday. Admission is $7 for adults, $3 for children ages 6-12, and free or children 5 and under.

There also will be a water fun zone for keiki, seafood cooking demonstrations and a Surfing, Fishing and Diving Museum.

Jiu-Jitsu open coming up

A black belt super fight is one of the featured contests at the Hawaii Triple Crown of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu’s Hawaiian Open Championship on April 16 at the Kaiser High gym.

The event will also be a benefit for the tsunami victims in Japan. Weigh-ins begin at 8:30 a.m. for youth and 9:30 a.m. for adults.

The deadline for early online registration is midnight Sunday. Entries accepted at the gym on competition day.

Cowboy mounted shooting clinic

Frank Turben, a two-time world and national Cowboy Mounted Shooting Association Reserve champion, is the featured clinician May 7 and 8 at Paniolo Ranch in Haleiwa.

Cowboy mounted shooting is considered the fastest growing equestrian sport in the country. The cost is $100 per day or $150 for both days.
