This could be islander Jason Momoa’s best year yet. The former model and "Baywatch" and "Stargate Atlantis" actor will get ample exposure in the weeks ahead, beginning with HBO’s "Game of Thrones" epic, premiering next Sunday. Momoa portrays Khal Drago, the wealthy warrior and horse lord, in the retelling of the George R.R. Martin novel, "A Song of Ice and Fire." And, ahem, Momoa has his first film sex scene … with nudity.

As part of the summer 3-D wave, Momoa will play the titular "Conan," in which the barbarian (earlier portrayed by the Governator, Arnold Schwarzenegger) is on a mission to avenge the murder of his father and the slaughter of his village. The film drops Aug. 19, with Ron Perlman replacing Mickey Rourke as Conan’s dad. …

THE NAME GAME: Mick Fleetwood, the moving force of Fleetwood Mac who also is a Maui resident, is moving along with plans to take over the former Planet Hollywood site on Front Street in Lahaina. Fleetwood’s, a restaurant, bar and music space, would further deepen his Valley Isle roots. Does he know there’s also an ex-Planet space in Waikiki? …

That was Broadway Tony nominee Loretta Ables Sayre and publicist hubby David Sayre lunching with friends at Alan Wong’s Pineapple Room a few days back. Ables Sayre has been recharging her batteries after "South Pacific" closed its run at Lincoln Center in NYC, and is negotiating her next move. Yep, on stage. Stay tuned. …

release, features AnnaSophia Robb, who plays her credibly and with ease, with digital doctoring erasing her left arm. While there’s sweet island music in the soundtrack, underlying Christian overtones bump this one into a Lifetime biopic level instead of a hallmark for perseverance and drive. …

HONORABLE MENTION: The Honolulu Police Community Foundation will honor and toast a pair of community notables — retired Chief Justice Ronald T.Y.
