A 52-year-old Waikiki man was critically injured when his mo-ped collided with an SUV in Waikiki late this morning.

Kuhio Avenue’s westbound lanes were still closed at Lewers Street at 1 p.m. following the 11:18 a.m. crash and have since been reopened.

The mo-ped was traveling west when it collided with the Chevy Tracker traveling east and attempting to turn left onto Kaiolu Street.

The SUV’s driver, a 72-year-old Waikiki woman, was not injured, said police traffic Lt. David Nilsen.

Speed and alcohol are not suspected of being factors at this time, Nilsen said.
