» Kansas left-hander Wally Marciel (‘Iolani ’06) allowed two runs on three hits in three innings of an 11-5 victory over Saint Mary (Kansas) yesterday. Marciel walked one and struck out three.

» Loyola Marymount sophomore Zac Fujimoto (Maryknoll ’08) doubled, scored twice and drove in a run to help the Lions defeat Gonzaga 9-4 on Saturday for their only win of the series.

» Claremont-Mudd-Scripps freshman Brett Watanabe (‘Iolani ’10) went 2-for-4 with a run and two RBIs in a 17-2 win over Cal Tech on Sunday in a game called after seven innings.

» Saint Peter’s (N.J.) freshman Kini Enos (Saint Louis ’10) hit the go-ahead RBI single to cap a six-run ninth inning and give the Peacocks a 9-8 win over Wagner yesterday.

» Whittier (Calif.) freshman Curtis Martin (‘Iolani ’10) pitched 3 1⁄3 scoreless innings, allowing one hit in a 14-12 loss to Pomona-Pitzer on Sunday.

MEN’S GOLF

» San Diego junior Alex Ching (Punahou ’08) lost on the second sudden-death playoff hole to finish in second place in the West Coast Conference championship that ended yesterday. Ching shot a 5-under 67 in the final round to force a playoff and finished the tournament at 4 under. San Francisco freshman Alika Bell (Kamehameha ’10) placed 16th at 5-over 221.

» Pacific (Ore.) senior Max Bonk (Hawaii Prep ’07) won his third consecutive tournament, earning individual medalist honors at the Pacific Invitational that ended on Sunday. Bonk finished 9 under to win by eight shots and claim his eighth tournament of the year. He’s finished in the top five of every tournament this year and has won nine out of 13 overall.

WOMEN’S GOLF

» Tulsa sophomore Kristina Merkle (Moanalua ’09) fired a 1-over 73 to finish in ninth place at 10 over in the Conference USA championship yesterday. The Golden Hurricane finished in second place, two shots behind UTEP.

» UCLA junior Stephanie Kono (Punahou ’08) finished in a tie for 15th place at 5-over 221 in the Pac-10 championship that ended yesterday. Kono shot a 74 in the final round after opening with a 71 and shooting a 76 on Monday.

» Santa Clara senior Miki Ueoka (Kauai ’07) closed with a 1-over 73 to finish in fifth place at 8 over in the West Coast Conference championship that ended yesterday. Broncos junior Tammy Surtees (Hawaii Prep ’08) finished in 14th place at 19 over and Portland senior Lisa Okazaki (Mid-Pacific ’07) placed 26th at 39 over.

» Furman (S.C.) senior Jackie Hilea (Moanalua ’06) matched Monday’s round of 78 with another yesterday to finish in a tie for 20th place at 22-over 238 in the Southern Conference championship.

» Portland State sophomore Britney Yada (Waiakea ’09) shot a 4-under 68 yesterday and leads the Big Sky Conference championship by four shots heading into today’s final round.

» Boise State sophomore Hayley Young (Mid-Pacific ’09) closed with a 75 to finish in a tie for ninth place at 12-over 225 in the Western Athletic Conference championship on Sunday.

» Cal State Northridge senior Ashlee Nagamine (La Pietra ’07) shot a 74 in the final round of the Big West championship yesterday to finish in 15th place at 12-over 228. Nagamine, who had four birdies yesterday, finishes her collegiate career with a 79.14 stroke average, third best in school history.

» Puget Sound senior Natalie Nakamine (Roosevelt ’07) finished in a tie for sixth place at 28 over in the Pacific Spring Invitational that ended on Sunday. Pacific (Ore.) senior Valerie Kitamori (Waiakea ’07) finished two shots behind Nakamine in a tie for eighth place, and teammate Tami Park (Waiakea ’07) placed in a tie for 17th at 45 over.

SOFTBALL

» Florida State freshman Courtney Senas (Mililani ’10) went 3-for-3 with a home run and three runs scored in the second game of a doubleheader sweep over Boston College on Saturday. Senas has started 44 games this year and is batting .275 with three homers and 21 runs scored.

» Mississippi State junior Kaili Smith (Kapolei ’08) singled and scored a run in the first of two losses to Alabama on Saturday and went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI in the second game.

» Eastern Kentucky senior Shyenne Hussey (Kailua ’06) finished 4-for-4 with a double, home run and three RBIs in two losses to Southern Illinois-Edwardsville on Saturday.

» New Mexico State senior Hoku Nohara (Kamehameha ’07) blasted her 20th home run of the season, which leads the country, in a 12-9 win over Nevada on Sunday to complete a series sweep and keep the Aggies in first place in the Western Athletic Conference.

» East Carolina freshman Kristi Oshiro (Mililani ’10) had three hits, two walks and scored three times to help the Pirates win two of three games against Alabama-Birmingham over the weekend.

» Pacific Lutheran freshman Lindsey Matsunaga (Kaimuki ’10) homered in both games of a doubleheader sweep of Puget Sound on Sunday. Matsunaga has 10 on the season and is hitting .413 with an .826 slugging percentage.

» Menlo (Calif.) sophomore shortstop Ululani Reyes (St. Francis ’09) and sophomore Nadia Lei (Kamehameha ’09) each scored a run and junior Amanda Vegas (Kailua ’08) had a hit in a 7-3 loss to Simpson on Monday.

» St. Martin’s (Wash.) sophomore Joslyn Eugenio (Sacred Hearts ’09) tossed a five-hit shutout with no walks and three strikeouts in a 3-0 win against Western Oregon on Sunday. Shortstop Jaimee Aiwohi (Mililani ’09) scored once for the Saints, while Tierra-Lyn Cuba (Mililani ’07) went 1-for-3 for the Wolves.

» Bloomfield (N.J.) freshman Angie Yoshizu (University ’10) went 3-for-5 in a doubleheader against nationally ranked Dominican on Thursday and was 4-for-7 in a sweep against University of the Sciences on Sunday. Yoshizu ranks fifth in the conference with a .411 average, hitting 10 doubles, three triples and scoring 19 runs.

» Texas A&M-Corpus Christi freshman Matt Westmoreland (Island Pacific ’10) came from a set down to win his No. 5 singles match, clinching a 4-3 victory over Texas-San Antonio on April 7 that gave the Islanders their fourth consecutive Southland Conference championship.

WOMEN’S WATER POLO

» Siena (N.Y.) senior Nicole Hagi (Kapolei ’07) exploded for six goals in an 18-9 win over Villanova on Sunday. Hannah Ishida (Punahou ’09) scored a goal for the Wildcats.

» Occidental (Calif.) senior Karie Nickle (Kamehameha ’07) scored all three of her goals in the first quarter, and sophomore Nanea Fujiyama (Kamehameha ’09) had a team-high five steals and two assists in a 9-5 win over California Lutheran on Saturday.

» Harvard sophomore Aisha Price (Punahou ’09) scored five goals and Shayna Price (Punahou ’10) had three as the Crimson split two games on Saturday. Aisha had three goals in a 15-11 win over George Washington and two more in a 14-8 loss to Indiana.

» Pacific (Calif.) senior Dara Tawarahara (‘Iolani ’07) scored three of her four goals in the second quarter to lead the Tigers to a 6-5 win over UC Davis on Saturday.
