UHH works for split with HPU

Jonathan James hit an RBI single in the sixth inning to break a tie and give Hawaii-Hilo a 6-5 victory and a doubleheader split with Hawaii Pacific yesterday at Hans L’Orange Park.

Keoni Manago and Kekoa Lee both chipped in with three hits for the Vulcans (18-24, 13-17 Pacific West Conference) in the second game.

Rylan Morihara, Chad Bolibol and Jordan Oshiro all had two hits for the Sea Warriors (20-21, 17-13) in the second game.

HPU won the opener 5-4 with a three-run rally in the bottom of the ninth. Wade Tamaru and Kale Sumner hit RBI singles in the big inning.

 

BYUH improves to 27-0 with victory

Brigham Young Hawaii women’s tennis team cruised to a 7-0 win over SUNY-Albany yesterday.

It was the final regular-season match for the Seasiders (27-0), the nation’s second-ranked Division II team, and the victory came against a Division I opponent.

Elwen Li, Yuan Jia, Annie Hwang, Sophia Simmons, Salina Aranda and Sasha Ulbrichtova all won in both singles and doubles for BYUH, which next plays in the NCAA Division II tournament.
