Ex-boyfriend arrested in alleged dognapping attempt

Police arrested a 37-year-old man who allegedly tried to steal his ex-girlfriend’s dog in Haleiwa.

Police said the woman returned home at 9:14 p.m. Sunday and noticed her ex-boyfriend’s vehicle in her driveway. She searched her home and discovered her dog and several personal items were missing, police said.

Her roommate then noticed the man loading the dog in his vehicle. The woman was able to retrieve the dog.

Police arrested her ex-boyfriendat 4 p.m. yesterday at his Haleiwa home on suspicion of burglary.
