Pulling over to rest proved to be a bad thing for a 30-year-old Aiea man, who was arrested on suspicion of carrying a stolen handgun in his vehicle.

Police said an officer checked in on a motorist passed out in his car in Kunia around 5:40 a.m. Saturday.

While checking the man’s identity, the officer discovered a handgun in the vehicle. A check showed the handgun was reported stolen in 2002.

The man was arrested pending a firearms charge.
