Sean Montplaisir went 4-for-5 with two RBIs and Collin Bennett was 3-for-6 with a double, two runs and two RBIs as Hawaii took the opener of a four-game series at Nevada with a 12-9 win at Peccole Park in Reno, Nev.

Zack Swasey was 3-for-4 with three RBIs and Pi’ikea Kitamura scored three runs as Hawaii (25-19, 10-3 Western Athletic Conference) pounded out 15 hits.

Lenny Linsky got Joe Kohan to fly out with two men on base in the ninth to earn his 10th save and move into second on the school’s all-time list with 23.

Brent Harrison (2-1) allowed five hits and three runs in 4 2/3 innings of relief to pick up the victory. Junior Matt Sisto lasted three innings for the second straight start, giving up four hits and four runs on five walks with three strikeouts.

Kamehameha graduate Waylen Sing-Chow went 2-for-3 with two doubles and two runs scored for the Wolf Pack (16-24, 5-7).

Tom Jameson (3-6) allowed seven runs on nine hits in 3 2/3 innings to take the loss.

The series continues on Friday at 3:05 p.m.
