The state Department of Land and Natural Resources says vehicle access to the Kuaokala and Peacock Flats area of Oahu is being temporarily closed because of heightened military security levels at Kaena Point Satellite Tracking Station.

The department said Wednesday the Kealia and Mokuleia Access Road bike and hiking trails remain open. Campers and hikers may still access Peacock Flats campgrounds A and B from these trails.

The state forest reserves at Kuaokala and Mokuleia are also still open, as is the Kuaokala Game Management Area.
