An argument between two brothers who were drinking led to a shooting at a home early this morning in Waimea, Big Island police said.

Police arrested a 23-year-old man for suspicion of attempted murder after he allegedly shot his 22-year-old brother in the leg. Police said they responded to a home on Alaneo Street in Waimea at 3:19 a.m. and learned that the two brothers had argued while drinking with others in the garage.

Friends took the victim by private vehicle to the hospital. The older brother left the home before police arrived, but returned at about 6:40 a.m. and turned himself in to officers, police said.
