A Honolulu police drug education program is to hold an event for more than 10,000 fifth-graders, teachers and parents.

The annual Drug Abuse Resistance day is to take place today at the University of Hawaii Stan Sheriff Center.

The event is to feature entertainment, SWAT team demonstrations and a canine unit skit.

Students are to take a pledge to stay away from drugs, gangs and violence.

For 26 years, Honolulu police has partnered with the Hawaii Department of Education and the U.S. military to educate nearly 360,000 students about the dangers of drugs.
