A 27-year-old Wailuku man critically injured in a pedestrian accident on the Hana Highway in Kahului on May 7 has died.
The man, identified as Stephen Frey, died Saturday at Maui Memorial Medical Center, Maui police said.
Frey was walking on the Hana Highway near Hansen Road at 12:49 a.m. when he was struck by a 1999 Honda Accord driven by a 32-year-old Pukalani man, police said. Both the Honda and the pedestrian were headed north on the highway.
The death is the fifth traffic fatality on Maui compared to seven at the same time last year.
