Honolulu fire rescue crews believe they have found the body of missing professor Are Hjorungnes in the hills above Dillingham Airfield.

Crews were preparing to extract the body this afternoon.

Hjorungnes, a visiting engineering professor from Norway, was last seen a week ago on a mountain trail run in the hills above Mokuleia with members of an Oahu running club.

He was working in the University of Hawaii Department of Electrical Engineering.

Police at the scene have called for the medical examiner.
