Man arrested in Heeia Kea Pier assault is released pending investigation
A 28-year-old man who was arrested in connection with a Memorial Day fight at Heeia Kea Pier that left a man in critical condition was released Friday, pending investigation.
The man was arrested Thursday night on suspicion of first-degree assault after police asked for public’s help in finding witnesses to the fight.
Officers responded to a large fight and found an unresponsive man with head injuries near the boat launch area about 6 p.m. Monday. He was taken to the hospital in critical condition.
Police said they believe one man punched the victim, who fell down and his his head on the asphalt.
