Like most old salts, the hard-bitten captains of Discovery Channel’s “Deadliest Catch” fleet have a soft spot for fellow fishermen around the world. The lot of them will be at Nico’s at Pier 38 from 6 to 8 p.m. today to raise money for fishing communities in Japan affected by the devastating earthquake and tsunami. On board will be Scott “Junior” Campbell of the Seabrooke, Keith Colburn of the Wizard, Sig and Edgar Hansen of the Northwestern, Andy and Jonathan Hillstrand of the Time Bandit, Elliott Neese of the Ramblin’ Rose and “Wild Bill” Wichrowski of the Kodiak, who will sign autographs and pose for photos.

A minimum donation of $10 per person is requested for entry into the event, which will feature pupu by Nico’s, 1133 N. Nimitz Highway.
