Nimitz Highway crash knocks over fire hydrant

Water shoots out of the ground after a traffic accident on Nimitz Highway knocked over a fire hydrant this morning.

An accident on Nimitz Highway this morning sent water gushing into the air from a broken hydrant.

At least two vehicles were damaged in a crash that knocked over a fire hydrant along North Nimitz Highway this morning.
Police said two tow trucks were requested after the 10:58 a.m. crash in the 370 block of Nimitz Highway across from FloraDec. No injuries were reported.
Board of Water Supply spokesman Kurt Tsue said a trouble shooter turned off the water and no customers were affected.
A crew was sent out to repair the hydrant and should be able to do it without affecting traffic, Tsue said.
