‘Challenger’ contest to spotlight Hawaii

One of Korea’s largest networks, KBS, is in Hawaii filming the "Challenger" series that will start showing in Korea on June 24.

Of the 16 episodes slated for the weekly show, 15 will be filmed at locations in Hawaii.

Each week, contestants are given a mission, followed by an elimination round. On the final episode, in October, three finalists will face off during a live broadcast in Korea. The program also incorporates a local feel with Korean Americans as judges.

The program is expected to appeal to young viewers who eventually could honeymoon in Hawaii. One of its missions is to raise funds for the Korean Cultural Center in Hawaii.
