Maui student team places second at national auto skills competition

A two-student team from Maui High School has placed second at a national automotive skills competition.

AAA Hawaii says recent Maui graduates Jimbo Paranada and Marc Paguirigan took 62 minutes and 42 second to repair a Ford F-150 truck at Ford’s headquarters in Michigan.

The annual Ford/AAA Student Auto Skills National Finals pits teams from across the country vying for scholarships and prizes.

Maui High’s coach Shannon Rowe won second-place in the national finals when he competed in 1996.

This was his third trip to the national finals as an instructor.

Maui High won national titles in 1995 and 2000.
