Viloria to fight Miranda in WBO title bout here in July
Brian Viloria’s attempt to return to world champion status will come next month at the Blaisdell Arena, promoter Tom Moffatt confirmed this morning.
The Waipahu native will face WBO flyweight champion Julio Cesar Miranda in a title bout on July 16 in his return to Hawaii after winning two fights in the Philippines last year.
In his last bout, Viloria (28-3, 16 KOs) defeated Liempetch Sor Veerapol by TKO on Nov. 5, 2010 to put him in line for a title shot against Miranda. He previously won a decision against Omar Soto on July 10.
Viloria last fought in Hawaii on Aug. 29, 2009, when he won a unanimous decision against Jesus Iribe in a defense of his IBF light flyweight title. He subsequently lost the title by TKO to Carlos Tamara in January 2010 and moved up in weight.
