Harada takes job as Navy assistant
Hawaii Pacific associate athletic director and head women’s basketball coach Jeff Harada has accepted an assistant coaching position with the women’s basketball team at the Naval Academy.
Harada took over the HPU women’s basketball program for the 2007-08 season. He took over a team that won two games and went on to win totals of eight, 14, 18 and 18 in his four-year run.
In 2009-10, Harada was named the Pacific West Conference coach of the year after taking the Sea Warriors to the conference title and their first appearance in the NCAA regionals.
"The entire athletics department is going to miss Jeff, but we are all excited for the opportunity he has at the Naval Academy," HPU athletic director Darren Vorderbruegge said. "Jeff has proven an excellent administrator and coach."
Theurer resigns as BYUH coach
Brigham Young-Hawaii women’s soccer coach Carolyn Theurer resigned to embark on a new career in the airline industry, the school announced Monday.
The Seasiders will announce a replacement in the near future.
Theurer coached the Seasiders the past two seasons after one year as an assistant at the school. She went 29-5-2, including a 14-2-2 mark, a Pacific West Conference title, a berth into the NCAA Division II tournament and a national ranking last season.
"The past three years have been a tremendous experience for me," she said. "I have grown as a coach and a person. I am excited to watch the ongoing success that this team will surely have, and I will miss them all with my whole heart."
