Honolulu police, responding to a tip, recovered 2 lizards from a Halawa apartment. The lizards, including the blue-tounged skink shown here, are illegal in Hawaii.

Police said they recovered two illegal lizards from an apartment bedroom Wednesday morning in Halawa.

Officers responded to the apartment after receiving word that the illegal reptiles were inside.

The apartment owner allowed police and a Hawaiian Humane Society representative into the unit where two lizards were found in glass aquariums in the master bedroom.

The Humane Society recovered the reptiles to turn them over to the Department of Agriculture.
