Owners of the sailboat Queen Ester, which ran aground Sunday night in Maunalua Bay, hope to remove it at high tide today.

A 45-foot ketch that ran aground in Maunalua Bay was removed from the reef this afternoon, the Coast Guard said.

The “Queen Esther” was dislodged about 5:20 p.m. and was anchored off Hawaii Kai in sufficiently deep water, the Coast Guard said.

After the sailboat ran around about 7:30 p.m. Saturday, the state Department of Land and Natural Resources gave the owner until Thursday morning to remove it or the state would have done the job. The owner planned to work with a salvage expert to dislodge the vessel during high tide this afternoon.

Since Sunday, the Coast Guard monitored the grounded vessel and said no fuel or other hazardous materials have leaked from it.
