Abercrombie signs female prisoner restraint bill into law

 

Gov. Neil Abercrombie has signed six more bills into law, including one that prohibits restraining prisoners who are pregnant or who are recovering from a pregnancy except under extraordinary circumstances. 

A second measure governor signed today allows people to bring service dogs into certain situations, such as during real estate transactions. The move brings the state into compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act and Fair Housing Act.

One of the other new laws establishes wilderness area in the south Kona region of the Big Island to preserve vulnerable visual, natural, biological, and historical characteristics of South Kona.
