Camp out and talk story

I haven’t done it yet, but I am prepared to love Talk Story Camp, a three-day, two-night gathering featuring some of the most talented storytellers here and from the mainland. The camp, July 15 to 17 at Kualoa Park campgrounds, was organized by well-known yarn spinner Jeff Gere with the idea of bringing families together with storytellers to share tales, learn a little and listen a lot at a “getaway without the airfare.” The site has showers, restrooms and running water, and all meals are provided. There will also be music, spooky tales, activities for kids and the opportunity to swim and go on adventures nearby. Therapy sessions come to television

I can’t wait until Lisa Kudrow’s self-obsessed Fiona Wallace makes her debut July 19 on Showtime. Since 2008, the Emmy-winning actress has been amusing online fans as an impatient, judgmental therapist on L Studio’s Web-only show “Web Therapy.” The expanded weekly television series is expected to combine the online chat format of the webisodes with scenes of Wallace’s life. Turtle brings twilight glow to a child’s room

When it comes to baby gadgets, I like ones that will last for a while, and I expect to use this well-constructed night light for at least a couple of years. The Cloud b Twilight Sea Turtle fills a dark room with a blue, emerald green or aquamarine glow and projects a night sky onto the ceiling, complete with crescent moon and stars. The auto shutoff kicks in after 45 minutes to save your batteries. Sturdy sheets foil attic heat

We know aluminum foil blocks radiant heat — bounces it right off. But insulating your attic with household foil is impossible. There are a number of commercial substitutes, and lately I’ve tried AtticFoil, made in Texas, where they know a little something about roof heat. This is strong stuff, with aluminum impressed on both sides of 28-pound-test Mylar. It’s almost impossible to rip, although it cuts easily. It comes in rolls that are 4 feet wide and in various lengths. You just cut to fit and hammer or staple it to your rafters. It blocks something like 95 percent of the sun’s radiant heat on your roof.
