A 39-year-old Kalihi man is behind bars after a confrontation with a couple in a Keeaumoku Street parking lot Friday afternoon.

The case is apparently linked to a romantic dispute.

Police said a man, 38, and a woman, 39, were sitting in the woman’s car at about 3:30 p.m. when a man approached them and began hitting the male occupant in the face multiple times.

When the male victim began to roll up the window, the attacker pulled on it and shattered the glass, injuring the passenger.

The suspected was arrested without incident and is being held pending charges of unauthorized entry into a motor vehicle and first-degree criminal property damage.
