Man charged with attempted murder in Waikiki stabbing

COURTESY: HONOLULU POLICE DEPARTMENT
Sujan Swearingen is charged with attempted murder in connection with a stabbing in Waikiki on Monday afternoon.

Update: On April 16, 2018, The state Attorney General office issued an expungement order removing the arrest record for Sujan Swearingen in the case reported below in July 2011.  Swearingen said he was acting in self defense after being attacked by a homeless man.

Update: On April 20, 2012, Circuit Court Judge Karen Ahn dismissed the attempted murder charge against Sujan Swearingen without prejudice, which means it could be reinstated later. Ahn dismissed the charge after the prosecutor asked to postpone the trial because the complainant could not be located, according to court documents. Swearingen, who had been held on $100,000 bail, was then released.
