Registration ends today for workshop on home construction in flood zones
Applications are still being accepted for free workshops across Hawaii on renovating older homes and buildings in high-risk flood zones.
The state Department of Land and Natural Resources said Wednesday the workshops are designed for engineers, architects, planners and community officials.
Certain renovations of structures in high-risk flood zones could trigger required compliance with federal and local flood-plain management building regulations.
The deadline to register is today. The workshops are scheduled for August on Oahu, Maui, Kauai and the Big Island.
