Victim identified in Maui motorcycle crash

Maui police identified a 29-year-old motorcyclist killed in a crash early Sunday morning in Wailea as Kenneth j. Talbott III, of Kihei.

Talbot lost control of his Kawasaki motorcycle on a turn on Wailea Alanui Drive about a mile north of Kuakahi Street at 12:27 a.m., police said.

The motorcycle struck a median and a tree. Talbot died at the scene and police believe he was not wearing a helmet, police said.

Speed drugs and alcohol are being investigated as contributing factors in he crash. 

Eleven motorists have died on Maui roads this year, compared to nine at the same time last year.
