Police subdue and arrest alleged violent shoplifter

Honolulu police arrested and subdued an alleged shoplifting suspect who became violent in a Waikiki store.

Police said the manager of a store in Eaton Square on Hobron Lane saw a 19-year-old Waikiki man shoplift merchandise. The manager stopped the suspect who allegedly shoved and threatened to punch the manager as he tried to detain the suspect.

Officers subdued the suspect and arrested him on suspicion of robbery at about 8 p.m. Sunday.
