Hawaii County police seize 300 marijuana plants at a home
HILO » A 43-year-old Big Island man is to appear in court on charges after police allegedly discovered a marijuana farm at his Hawaiian Acres home.
The Hawaii Tribune-Herald reports Paul Alan Silva has been charged with first- and second-degree commercial promotion of marijuana and other charges.
Hawaii County police say officers found more than 300 marijuana plants ranging from 5 inches to 3 feet. Police also found 93 rootless cuttings used to propagate new plants.
Capt. Randal Medeiros says that an aerial observation provided probable cause for a search warrant for the property last week.
Silva is free on $225,000 bail.
