Aug. 6 was a strange night for “Hawaii Five-0” fans. Most weeks we’re used to our regular Monday night episodes, perhaps joining in the Twitter chatter online, or if nothing else, just enjoying our favorite show while we relax after a hard start of the work week. But this Saturday we got a treat with a special showing of “Palekaiko.”

And because it was a special showing, and the last weekend before I returned to reality, i.e. my day job, I threw an end of summer Tweetup (a party for Twitter friends) at our favorite “Five-0” Fan place, Big City Diner Pearlridge. Manager Kit and his crew were ready for us, even though it was a busy Saturday night.

We also got a few patrons who were already seated in the viewing area to join in the fun. Audrey from Portland and her friend Kaiulani Watson, who had no idea we were having a “Hawaii Five-0” Tweetup, became a part of our ‘Five-0’ fan club.

I organized the Tweetup because my very good friend WEBSouffle is visiting from the mainland, and Tweetup regulars Lisa Woo and Keith Sato made her a special “Hawaii Five-0” cake, reminiscent of the cake they baked Daniel Dae Kim for his birthday — albeit not a motorcycle — it was very delicious.

  • Wendie, Double WOW for this post. Another tweetup that included not only so many of the local Five0 fans, but the Chief along with WEBsouffle from the mainland. It looked liked you folks had a great time. Your mention of returning soon to your day job means the school bells will be ringing. Here the schools do not open until around Aug 24th or so. Thank you for your summer of insightful background info and pictures.

  • Wendie – someday I intend to make it to a 5-0 Tweetup! Looks like everyone had so much fun! Summer might have wound down for you in Hawaii, but it’s still going strong here on the plains.  The wheat harvest has begun in earnest, the combines are cutting and threshing the grain in giant swaths across the fields, and the trucks are hauling brimming beds of yellow and red kernals to storage bins dotting the wide open landscape.  All truly fine and dandy, but I’m also anxiously waiting for Sept. 19th to roll around for harvest to be complete and H5-0, S2 to be back on the airwaves! Thanks for these summertime blogs – sure helps make the “lazy” days of summer go by faster!
