Two men receive stiff sentences for stabbing, robbing taxi driver
Two men were sentenced today to lengthy prison terms for the 2008 robbery and stabbing of a taxi driver in Manoa.
Circuit Judge Colette Garibaldi sentenced John M. Walton, 24, to a life term with possibility of parole for his conviction of attempted murder, and Courage Lee Elkshoulder, 36, Walton’s uncle, to a maximum 20-year term for first-degree robbery.
Minh Van Tran, a cab driver for 18 years, suffered wounds that included a slash to the neck. He was hospitalized for several days.
Lawyers for both men said they plan to appeal the convictions.
