Meeting to discuss Kuhio Highway fortification plan
State highways officials will hold a public informational meeting Thursday night on a proposal to stabilize slopes along Kuhio Highway, northwest of Hanalei, between mileposts 5.32 and 5.54.
The meeting will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Hanalei Community Center in the Hale Halawai Building.
The Highways Division will discuss alternatives, including a bypass road with retaining walls, cut-and-filled slopes, roadway signs and relocation of an overhead telephone line. Assistance sought in tracking down Hawaii isle fugitive
Hawaii County police are asking the public again for help in finding a 31-year-old Kona man who is wanted for escape and is being featured on "Hawaii Island’s Most Wanted."
Sky Kamai Lewis did not return March 30 to the Hale Nani community-based program, police said.
He is 5 feet 8 inches tall, 175 pounds, and has brown eyes and black hair.
Anyone with information on Lewis’ whereabouts is asked to call police at 935-3311 or CrimeStoppers at 961-8300 or 329-8181.
Sewage spill shuts restroom at Hana Ball Park
The restroom at the Hana Ball Park has been closed due to a sewage spill, Maui County officials said Tuesday.
County workers will pump out the sewage.
The restroom is expected to open Thursday.
