The Hawaii women’s volleyball team was ranked No. 10 in the AVCA Coaches Top 25 Division I poll released today.

Four-time defending NCAA champion Penn State topped the poll, receiving 54 of 60 first-place votes. The Nittany Lions are followed by USC (five votes) and last season’s runnerup Cal (one vote).

Rounding out the Top 10 are Texas, Nebraska, Stanford, Washington, Illinois and Florida.

The Rainbow Wahine open the season Aug. 26 against San Francisco. Hawaii’s opponents ranked in today’s poll are No. 11 UCLA, No. 21 Ohio State and No. 22 Long Beach State; Hawaii plays all three in the same tournament, the Hawaiian Airlines Wahine Volleyball Classic, Sept. 1-4.
