Landfill selection committee meetings postponed
The Mayor’s Advisory Committee on Landfill Site Selection said it has postponed its meetings scheduled for Tuesday and Aug. 26 to give a consultant more time to gather requested information.
The consultant, R.M. Towill Corporation, was asked at the last meeting to investigate potential landfill sites within Oahu’s Underground Injection Control Line and No Pass Zone.
The consultant needs to contact a number of governmental agencies, including the Honolulu Board of Water Supply and the state Department of Health’s Solid Waste and Safe Drinking Water branches, the committee said. The consultant also has to analyze a number of water- and land-use issues, the committee said.
A meeting will be scheduled when the research is completed, the committee said.
