As the summer winds down, and the school year starts up again, I find myself longing for just one more sunny day on the beach, enjoying a relaxing day with a handsome Navy man, with only the thought of some ono rainbow shave ice to break up my day. And no, that wasn’t a McGarrett daydream, I really have had a summer of sunshine on the beach, shave ice, and my husband definitely qualifies as a handsome Navy man in my eyes.

So with the thought of stacks of Vonnegut essays, Shakespeare allusion projects, and sports writing articles threatening to eat up my time, I thought I would take a short hiatus from the “Five-0 Redux.”

Rest assured, I shall be back the week of September 10, when “Hawaii Five-0” kicks off its second season with a “Sunset on the Beach” premiere party. All of the Honolulu Pulse and Star-Advertiser crew will be there to bring you coverage and pictures from the event and I hope to meet many of you who have been reading “Five-0 Redux” since January. There will be several tweetups and other events during that weekend, and if you follow my Facebook page, you can get links and information about attending all the fan (read: not CBS-affiliated or organized) events.

  • Try to enjoy your little “hiatus” girl.  Don’t let grading papers spoil your relaxation time..  Really enjoyed all the tweets and pix from your time with all our H50 pals in Oahu.  You guys look like you had a blast. Can’t wait for the S2 of H50.  Not only our great show, of course, but all the fun with all our blogger friends and Ohana members!  Don’t be a stranger at “home”.  Oh, BTW, Vonnegut is my daughter’s favorite writer!!!

  • Even though I will miss your blogs during your “hiatus,” I’ll look forward to the coverage of SOTB! Get some much needed rest, and I know you’ll come back to us all fired up for all things 5-0! Can’t wait for S2 to get started!!

  • Wendie,
Looks like you and the rest of your team had another fun tweetup at the Diner. I am starting to see some school buses around here also, so I can understand that you are facing the end of your vacation. However thanks for sharing all of your Five0 events and tours during this summer.
    Here comes S2.

  • Wendie:

Thank you for the wonderful blog commentary!  Great writing – it’s captivated
me for half of Labor Day – ha!  Cool insights.  Looking forward to your and the
Star-Advertiser’s coverage at the season 2 beach party premier at Waikiki.  I’ll
try to catch the event on-line like last year.  Wish I was there  – will be for
PTC in January!  I’m a huge Five-O fan of the new series just like the
original. I’ve been fortunate enough to have about 100 guest stars and cast from
the original show autograph my two 1970 Capitol Records albums including
McGarrett’s  love interest from the pilot movie Cocoon –  Ms. Nancy Kwan. And
even have Taryn Manning from the new show.  Hope Ms. Kwan can do a cameo as Hilo
Hattie!  And maybe even a cameo role for my singing friend Tia!  Please keep up
the fine writing!  Mahalo from your new friend from Seal Beach CA, Big Kahuna
    Al

PS: the view from my Duke’s restaurant is not quite the same as yours! Ah,
    somewhere across the sea!
