Nanakuli man charged with alleged threats to ex-girlfriend

A 28-year-old Nanakuli man was scheduled to make his initial appearance in District Court on today for allegedly threatening his 20-year-old ex-girlfriend with a sharp instrument after hitting her in the face.

Brandon Balai was charged with first-degree terroristic threatening and his bail was set at $40,000. He was also arrested on three contempt warrants, with bail totaling $2,400.

Balai’s former girlfriend told police he hit her in the face, took her to the beach and threatened her with a sharp instrument to her neck, police said.

The woman also alleged that he held her against her will and hit her multiple times the previous week, police said.

Police arrested Balai Friday morning on suspicion of kidnapping, assault and terroristic threatening. He was charged only with the first-degree terroristic threatening.
