A 26-year-old man is being held on $136,080 after being charged for his alleged role in a home invasion robbery by men impersonating police officers last month in Aiea. 

Authorities charged James K. Kaleopaa Jr., who gave no local address, with five counts of first-degree robbery, five counts of kidnapping, burglary, six firearms violations, and  impersonating a law enforcement officer. He was also charged with contempt of court for an earlier incident, which added $80 to his bail.

Police arrested Kaleopaa at 11:15 a.m. Friday in Waipahu. He is expected to make his initial appearance in Honolulu District Court Tuesday.

Police say the home invasion robbery happened shortly after midnight Aug. 22, when four men with badges and a black pistol walked up to two men in a driveway and said they were police and told the men to get on the ground, police said. The robbers then went through the front door of the home and ordered five people in a back bedroom playing video games to the living room where they told them to empty their pockets. 

The robbers took their property and fled in a white pickup truck. The three other robbers remain at large.

Kaleopaa has four convictions for misdemeanors or petty misdemeanors in Hawaii, dating back to 2008, according to the state criminal database. His convictions include harrassment, contempt of court, and littering.
