LAS VEGAS >> Because of a glitch in the calculating program, Hawaii linebacker Aaron Brown was inadvertently credited with 10 total tackles, instead of the 12 he made, during a 40-20 loss to Nevada-Las Vegas.
“I don’t care about the numbers,” Brown said. “It all goes out the window when the team doesn’t win. All I know is we got the loss.”
An hour after the game, the statistical error was corrected.
Now, if only the Warriors can find an equally quick fix to all their problems.
“We’ll get it cleaned up,” said UH head coach Greg McMackin, who took the blame for the loss.
“I don’t care about the numbers. It all goes out the window when the team doesn’t win. All I know is we got the loss.”

Brown disagreed, saying: “It’s not on our head coach. The coach doesn’t play. We do. He calls the plays and we execute them. We didn’t execute them the way we needed to.”
The Warriors are facing deadlines. They play UC Davis this coming Saturday at Aloha Stadium, then go on the road for their first two Western Athletic Conference games. Because there is a bye between games at Louisiana Tech on Oct. 1 and San Jose State on Oct. 14, the Warriors will return home, unlike their schedule of staying on the mainland between the Washington and UNLV games.
For the Warriors, the recovery begins in the training room.
Right slotback Miah Ostrowski, who caught 11 passes against Washington, did not play against UNLV because of a sprained right foot.
Defensive tackle Haku Correa might miss extended time. He said he suffered a torn ligament in his right ankle on the game’s third play. He left the field on crutches, with his right foot in a medical boot.
Center Matagisila Lefiti also was on crutches, with an ice pack on his left knee.
The Warriors will rest today, then have meetings and a walk-through Monday. They will resume practicing Tuesday.
“We’re going to work hard, and keep believing we will win,” safety Richard Torres said. “If you don’t believe, no sense playing.”
