A 42 year-old Makawao man died today after he lost control of his motorcycle and hit a pile of boulders in Wailuku.
Maui police said Sean West died at the scene of the crash at 5:02 this morning at Waiale Road and East Waiko Road. The victim lost control of his 2011 Harley Davidson motorcycle and left the road hitting a pile of boulders off the roadway, police said. He was not wearing a helmet.
Police are looking into whether speed or alcohol were factors in the crash.
This is Maui’s fourth motorcycle fatality and its 13th traffic death this year, compared to 10 traffic fatalities at the same time last year.
