Matson fuel surcharge going down
Matson Navigation Co. will dial down its fuel surcharge, easing prices for ocean cargo transportation for the second time in two months.
The company said its fuel surcharge will decrease by three percentage points, from 45.5 percent to 42.5 percent on its Hawaii service. The reduction equates to a savings of $90 to $150 per container, Matson said.
In August, Matson reduced the surcharge by two percentage points. The latest decrease will take effect Sunday.
The reductions are due to a drop in the price for bunker fuel used to power Matson’s fleet.
