Speed, drugs and alcohol were factors in a single-SUV fatal crash on Piilani Highway in south Maui, police said.

The victim was identified by police as Rachelle Kibbee, 29, of Kula. Kibbee drove her 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee off the road near the 17-mile marker in Kanaio at about 2 p.m. Friday and overturned, police said. She died at the scene.

Kibbee was partially ejected and trapped under the overturned SUV off the roadway, said Maui Fire Department acting Battalion Chief Ben Bland. A dog that was also in the Jeep survived, apparently without serious injuries, he said.

It was Maui’s 14th traffic fatality this year compared to 10 at this time last year.
