Kailua house burns, causing $350,000 in damage
Fire destroyed at least half of a wooden Kailua home Monday morning, but no one was injured.
Up to 35 firefighters responded to the 11:09 alarm at 528 Kipuka Place near the Kailua Shopping Center. The fire was extinguished 30 minutes later.
Two women live in the house but no one was home at the time fire, Capt. Terry Seelig, Honolulu Fire Department spokesman said.
Damage to the building was estimated at $325,000 and another $25,000 to its contents.
Fire investigators said it will take at least another day to determine the cause of the blaze.
The Red Cross also was called in to help the two women who were displaced by the fire.
