Hawaii Warriors head coach Greg McMackin talks to the side judge in the 3rd quarter at Sam Boyd Stadium in Las Vegas.

Louisiana Tech, Saturday’s conference-opening opponent, "is going to be one of our tougher games of the year," University of Hawaii football coach Greg McMackin said today.

"I mean, there’s no doubt about that," McMackin said on a Western Athletic Conference coaches’ teleconference. "It is always tough to play in Ruston — and to get there."

UH is a 3 1/2-point underdog on the Las Vegas betting lines.

"They are a much, much better team than we played last year," McMackin said. UH won, 41-21, at Aloha Stadium in 2010.

UH is 2-2 and the Bulldogs are 1-3.
